
Banda Aceh, April 07, 2026 , The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), successfully held a guest lecture aimed at broadening academic insights in the field of sustainable chemistry.
The event took place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, starting at 09:00 WIB at the FMIPA Auditorium, and was attended by lecturers and students from the Department of Chemistry. Carrying the theme “Green Chemistry for a Better Future,” the lecture highlighted the importance of environmentally friendly approaches in modern chemical sciences.
The first session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohd Hazwan Hussin from the School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. In his presentation titled “Lignocellulosic Materials and Their Application,” he discussed the potential of biomass-based materials as sustainable alternatives in various industrial applications.
The second session featured Dr. Mohd Ridwan Adam, who presented on “Water Treatment Using Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Materials.” His talk focused on innovative methods for improving water purification systems through advanced material science, offering practical solutions to global water challenges.
The guest lecture provided participants with valuable knowledge and exposure to current research developments in green chemistry. It also served as a platform to strengthen academic collaboration and inspire students to engage in environmentally conscious scientific innovation.
Through this initiative, the Department of Chemistry at USK reaffirms its commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting sustainability in scientific research.
