Banda Aceh – Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Syiah Kuala conducted an International Accreditation Site-Visit with ASIIN on 3–9 May 2026. Held at FMIPA USK, the activity marked an important step in strengthening academic quality and enhancing the international competitiveness of study programs within the faculty.

A total of six study programs under Cluster A participated in the international assessment process, namely the Bachelor in Chemistry, Bachelor in Biology, Bachelor in Chemistry Education, Bachelor in Biology Education, Master in Chemistry, and Master in Biology programs.

The site visit involved an Expert Group consisting of Dirk Krueger, Carla Vogt, Nurma Yunita Indriyanti, Priyambodo, Muhammad Aqwam Nugraha, and Eko Andi Hartono.

The series of activities commenced with an Opening Meeting at the Senate Meeting Room of FMIPA USK, bringing together university leaders, faculty management, study program coordinators, and the ASIIN assessors. The discussion covered institutional development, study program profiles, learning systems, quality assurance management, and future academic development strategies.

Throughout the two-day visit, the assessors conducted various evaluation sessions, including meetings with study program coordinators, reviews of academic documents and students’ final projects, discussions with industry partners and alumni, as well as interview sessions with students and teaching staff. In addition, the assessors visited several laboratories and supporting academic facilities within FMIPA USK.

The laboratories visited during the accreditation process included the Basic Biology Laboratory, Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Instrumentation Laboratory, and Basic Chemistry Laboratory. The assessors also reviewed other university facilities, such as the ICT Center, Atsiri Research Center Universitas Syiah Kuala, and the USK Library.

The site visit concluded with a Final Meeting, which served as a forum for the assessors to deliver their preliminary impressions and initial evaluation results regarding the international accreditation process. The activity is expected to provide the best outcomes for all participating study programs while reinforcing FMIPA USK’s commitment to improving education, research, and community service.

Through the ASIIN international accreditation process, Universitas Syiah Kuala continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering globally standardized higher education and accelerating its vision of becoming a world-class university.
