BANDA ACEH – The Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), continues to support students in preparing for the professional world through a sharing session between alumni and final-year Chemistry students. Held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the session provided students with an opportunity to gain firsthand insights into career journeys, workplace challenges, and the diverse professional opportunities available to Chemistry graduates.
The session brought together several Chemistry alumni with diverse professional backgrounds. The alumni are currently pursuing careers across various sectors, including industry, laboratories, government institutions, law enforcement, doctoral education, and professional opportunities abroad. Their diverse experiences provided students with a broader perspective on the range of career pathways that can be pursued after completing a Chemistry degree.
Among the alumni participating in the session were Alfi Syahril, a 1995 graduate currently working at PT Solusi Bangun Andalas Indonesia Tbk. in Bogor; Ulul Albab, a 2016 graduate serving as PS Kaur Ren Subbagrenmin at the Laboratory Forensic Division of the North Sumatra Regional Police; and Aldi Patra, a 2017 graduate who works as a Senior Officer Laboratory Technician at PT Huafei Nickel Cobalt (Huayou Group).
Students also gained insights from J.S. Atanta, a 2017 graduate who works as a Quality Control Supervisor at PT Cisadane Raya Chemicals in Tangerang; Shara Fhonna, a 2017 graduate with experience as a Work and Holiday Visa holder in Australia; and Andriy Anta Kacaribu, a 2018 graduate who is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Agricultural Sciences at USK.
Another alumnus, M. Daffa Hadistya, a 2020 graduate, is currently working as a First Expert-Level Food and Drug Supervisor at the Center for Food and Drug Control in Bandar Lampung. The diverse professional backgrounds of the alumni demonstrate the broad range of opportunities available to Chemistry graduates across different sectors.
Through this sharing session, final-year students were expected to gain not only information about employment opportunities but also practical insights into building a career after graduation. The firsthand experiences shared by alumni provided valuable perspectives on the expectations and challenges of the professional world, while encouraging students to prepare themselves more confidently before entering the workforce.
The session also served as a meaningful platform for strengthening the relationship between the Chemistry Study Program and its alumni. Alumni engagement in sharing professional experiences is expected to foster stronger networks and create opportunities for future collaboration that can benefit both students and the continued development of the study program.
By bringing together alumni from diverse career pathways, the sharing session highlighted the wide range of opportunities available to Chemistry graduates. Their experiences are expected to inspire and motivate final-year students to confidently plan their careers, develop relevant competencies, and prepare themselves for successful professional journeys after completing their studies.
