Banda Aceh – The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), once again enriched its academic activities by organizing a guest lecture entitled “Fundamentals of Electroplating and Its Applications in Industry” on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the FMIPA USK Theater Hall.

The event featured Indra Priyana, S.Si., Director of PT Alkan Chemical Indonesia, as the guest speaker. Through this session, students had the opportunity to broaden their understanding of electroplating technology and gain insights into its practical applications across various industrial sectors.

During his presentation, Indra Priyana explained the fundamental concepts of electroplating, a metal coating process that utilizes electrical current to enhance surface properties such as corrosion resistance, hardness, and aesthetic appearance. He also discussed the working principles of electroplating, including the underlying electrochemical mechanisms and the factors that influence coating quality.
