Banda Aceh, August 24, 2026 – The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), has recorded another notable academic achievement with the graduation of 46 students during the May–June 2026 graduation period. The graduates comprise 10 students from the Graduate Program in Chemistry and 36 students from the Undergraduate Chemistry Program.
The data were reported by the Head of the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA USK, to the Dean of FMIPA USK as part of the report on graduates conferred degrees in the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The report serves as part of the Department’s academic performance evaluation and reflects the achievements of students in completing their studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Graduate Program in Chemistry
A total of 10 students successfully completed their studies in the Graduate Program in Chemistry, consisting of 2 male and 8 female graduates. Of these, 9 graduates (90%) received the “Very Satisfactory” distinction, while 1 graduate (10%) received a “Satisfactory” distinction.
In terms of study duration, the graduates came from several cohorts: one graduate from the 2022 cohort, three from the 2023 cohort, two from the 2024 cohort, and four from the 2025 cohort. Overall, the graduates completed their studies in an average of two years, with an average thesis completion period of 10.6 months and an average GPA of 3.75.
Undergraduate Chemistry Program
Meanwhile, the Undergraduate Chemistry Program produced 36 graduates, comprising 6 male and 30 female students. Their academic performance demonstrated positive results. A total of 9 graduates (25%) graduated with Honors, 25 graduates (69%) received a “Very Satisfactory” distinction, 1 graduate (3%) received a “Satisfactory” distinction, and 1 graduate (3%) received a “Fairly Satisfactory” distinction.
The undergraduate graduates came from the 2020–2022 cohorts, consisting of 2 graduates from the 2020 cohort, 16 from the 2021 cohort, and 18 from the 2022 cohort. Overall, the graduates completed their studies in an average of 4 years and 6 months, with an average final project completion period of 8.9 months and an average GPA of 3.35.
These achievements demonstrate the commitment of the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA USK, to maintaining the quality of its educational processes while supporting students in completing their studies within a reasonable timeframe. The high proportion of graduates receiving “Very Satisfactory” and “Honors” distinctions also serves as a positive indicator of students’ academic achievements.
The success of the 46 graduates was made possible through the continuous support and collaboration of the Department of Chemistry academic community, including lecturers, administrative staff, and study program management. This synergy plays an important role in fostering an academic environment that supports learning, research, the completion of final projects and theses, and the development of students’ academic and professional competencies.
