Universitas Syiah Kuala , The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), officially conferred degrees upon three graduates during an Open Senate Session (Local Commencement Ceremony) held at the FMIPA USK Multipurpose Auditorium in Banda Aceh on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Of the three graduates, two completed the Bachelor of Science (S1) program in Chemistry, while one earned a Master of Science (S2) degree in Chemistry.
The local commencement ceremony was conducted jointly with all study programs within FMIPA USK as a formal recognition of the students’ academic achievements. The solemn event was attended by faculty leaders, department and program heads, academic staff, administrative personnel, and the families of the graduates.
In his address, the Dean of FMIPA USK, Prof. Taufik, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates. He emphasized that completing higher education marks not the end of a journey, but the beginning of broader service to society and the professional world.
“We are proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our graduates. Become alumni who make meaningful contributions in the workforce, industry, and academia, while upholding the good name of your alma mater,” he stated.
He further encouraged the alumni to continuously enhance their competencies, remain adaptive to advances in science and technology, and uphold integrity and professional ethics as chemistry graduates. Amid the ongoing transformation in science and industry, chemistry graduates are expected to assume strategic roles in research development, materials innovation, natural resource processing, and in addressing environmental challenges.
The Head of the Department of Chemistry also conveyed appreciation to the parents and families for their steadfast support throughout the students’ academic journey. He expressed hope that the graduates would maintain strong ties with the department through alumni networks, collaborative research initiatives, and institutional development contributions.
With the addition of these three graduates, the Department of Chemistry FMIPA USK further strengthens its commitment to producing highly competent, competitive, and principled human resources. The alumni are expected to serve as exemplary representatives of the institution at regional, national, and international levels.
