Implementation of the On-Site Accreditation Assessment for the Master’s Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Syiah Kuala by LAMSAMA

Banda Aceh, December 16, 2022 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), conducted an On-Site Accreditation Assessment (Asesmen Lapangan) for the Master’s Program in Chemistry (PSMKIM) on December 15–16, 2022. The event took place at the FMIPA Senate Meeting Room and was attended by assessors from the Independent Accreditation Board for Natural and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA).

The two assessors appointed by LAMSAMA for this assessment were Prof. Dr. Syukri Arief, M.Eng from Universitas Andalas and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nurdin, M.Sc from Universitas Halu Oleo. Their arrival was warmly welcomed by the faculty leadership, academic staff, students, alumni, and representatives from graduate user partners.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Khairi, M.Si, Head of the Department of Chemistry, emphasized that the on-site assessment is an essential part of the academic quality assurance process. “Through this assessment, we hope to gain constructive feedback from the assessors to further enhance the quality of education and research within the Master’s Program in Chemistry,” he stated.

During the two-day visit, the assessors conducted verification and clarification of various data and documents previously submitted through the LAMSAMA accreditation system. The agenda also included interview sessions with faculty leaders, lecturers, students, alumni, and industry partners to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (education, research, and community service) within PSMKIM.

The assessment proceeded in a warm and productive atmosphere, with the assessors providing valuable suggestions and recommendations aimed at strengthening the program’s governance, curriculum, and graduate quality.

Through this on-site assessment, the Master’s Program in Chemistry, FMIPA USK, aims to achieve an optimal accreditation outcome and reaffirm its commitment to continuously improving the quality of education, research, and community service in the field of chemistry.
